Evocative Bird Stories

My collages are like mysterious narratives, calling forth the imagination like a visual Mary Oliver Poem. ...and this bird like her wild geese...as it flys up past the open drawers....calls to me.....

Wild Geese
by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

stay dry! pray for sunshine!

(I love the sound of prismacolors on paper; i just prefer the feel of a mouse in my hands to that of a pencil)

I love that piece by Mary Oliver and had it taped to the wall in my studio for years. And I love your work! It's beautiful and so emotional. I'm so happy to have stumbled across your site today. I just joined VAST and am starting to explore sites.

I would love to exchange links with you. I have a blog also, 'Art & Clairvoyance'. Here's the link:
